This is what we waited for?
I remember first reading the books as a kid and wondering why it was never made into a cartoon. When I heard of this project and who was involved I got interested. Too bad for me.
It seems the producers didn't realize that just because you're making an animated movie based on a series of books that came out in the 80s doesn't mean you have to use outdated animation techniques and styles from that same decade. Did they blow their whole budget on the (for the most part, horribly performed) voice actors or were they just incompetent? The animation was horrendous--it wasn't just bad here and there, but was terrible throughout.
There's no reason someone, at some point during the movie's production, couldn't have realized just how horrible the final product would be. I felt ashamed on the producers' behalf for having watched it, so I can only imagine how anyone with their name attached to the project must feel.

Sad, very sad.
It's pretty sad when they can't even be bothered to clean up the animation before releasing it. (see IMDB.com's goofs) The characterization is lacking (especially in Raistlin. Don't buy it. It just encourages them to keep making bad movies.

* I've waited for this movie for so long... ...
Finally, a Dragonlance movie! My favorite fantasy characters as a teenager have now come to life on the screen. Of course this is a low-budget animated film (read: not perfect, many flaws), not a cinematic experience like Lord of the Rings, but to experience it was extremely satisfying. A must-have for the Dragonlance fan. The spirit of the book made its way in the movie, and for me that's all that matters. Sutterland as Raistlin was a treat. I hope they make the sequel. Five stars for the sheer effort that was put into keeping the characters and story true to the classic novel we love.

Utter garbbage!
Terrible animation. Terrible acting. Terrible direction. It does not live up in any way to the books. Don't even rent this, let alone purchase it!

* An excellent animated film based on the popular series of fantasy books ...
I have seen the trailer online; Now I had watch the film, and I find this great animated film AWESOME! I would defy anyone to dislike this film (or any other fantasy/literary film) like I do; And as I said a million times, I was shocked, surprised and flabbergasted by the negative reviews I would see on the web, I thought the animation and casting are excellent.
In this animated film based on the popular series of fantasy books, about six friends - a dwarf, a warrior and his brother a mage , a half-elf, a knight and a kinder - have come together once again after spending five years searching for proof that the gods do in fact exist. Sadly, they reunite amidst rumors of a growing evil and an impending war - but now, with horror and chaos looming on the horizon, the goal of their searches may finally be within their grasp in the form of mysterious warrior princess bearing a crystal blue staff. A threat like none of them have seen is poised to overtake their homeland, but if these heroes can stand against it, they will become legends.
