This likeable comedy/drama boasts uniformly fine performances from all concerned (particularly 0h, who received Genie Award for Best Actress) and includes a then largely unknown Callum Keith Rennie. First time writer/director Mina Shum crafts the film with a brisk tempo and scenes that rise above clichés. Nice score by Shadowy Men From a Shadowy Planet. --D.K.
